While it may be cold outside, we know plenty of summer brides are in the process of planning their dream wedding. Naturally, beach weddings have a bit more planning involved, as most are also destination weddings—meaning you’re planning a lot of your wedding from afar!To help you while planning, we’re giving you our best tips:
Consider the Weather
One of the biggest components of a beach wedding is the weather! First, be aware if your destination has a rainy season—imagine planning a stunning wedding only for the entire thing to be derailed by hurricane season. No thank you! Plan for a less rainy time of year, but be sure to have a plan in place in case the weather doesn’t cooperate—a simple tent or indoor option at your venue will be a huge relief if you end up needing it!
Check Local Laws
Most beach locales have certain laws around gatherings (i.e., your wedding) on the beach. Depending on the size or location of your wedding, you may need a permit from the local government to have your ceremony outside. Be sure to check up on the laws and have any paperwork done before the big day!
Offer an Indoor Break
We can’t recommend enough having an indoor/outdoor reception! This allows your guests to have an air conditioned space to take a breather in if it’s hot outside, and gives you a backup option in case the weather isn’t going according to plan. We know it’s tempting to want to spend the entire day on the beach, but trust us—you’ll be glad the indoor space is there, too!
Accommodations
For destination weddings, you do not need to book each guest’s accommodations. However, it’s a good idea to recommend places to stay for your guests! Add a page on your wedding website or an insert in your Save the Dates to let guests know a few good options. This way, you won’t have to worry about guests staying far from the venue or not knowing where they should stay! It makes everything much easier for both you and your guests (and saves you a lot of time answering questions).
